By the time he returns to Earth the culture has undergone a great technological revolution. The city on the “Hill”, on which he lands, is now occupied by human beings who communicate across large distances by the help of digital technology. They see and talk with each other across continents and are able to defend their technological power by using radar guided missiles and bombers. Here human beings have risen as supermen and superwomen and taken the roles of the mythical gods.
In this city the traditional ideas of Paradise and Hell have disappeared and the dwellers of this city lead a life which resembles more lik mechanical robots who are emotionally distant from each other. It appears as a “City in Damnation” in the eyes of Tathagata who has returned from the past.
